Common Grounds

“No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed,
but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light." LUKE 8:16

The heart of Common Grounds is to provide an opportunity for people from all walks of life, both believers and nonbelievers, to gather and enjoy a friendly atmosphere, listen to great music, see some amazing art, develop connections to other talented artists, and celebrate the unique light that God has put into each of us. Their goal is to host talent showcases featuring primarily local musicians, artists, photographers and poets in a setting that encourages creativity, collaboration, community, and excitement!

Perhaps you love art & music, or have a talent that you would like to share- we invite you to hang out with us at Common Grounds (the free coffee isn’t bad either). Check out our Facebook page “Common Grounds-Tyler” for details on dates and location, or reserve your performance slot at the next event!

ESL

Harvest opens its doors those who desire to learn English every Monday and Tuesday night from 6:30-8:00.  They currently provide three levels of English Language instruction, but have a need for four. The available levels are Beginner, Upper Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. ESL students come for large group and one on one instruction from the "All-Star" curriculum, provided by the Literacy Council of Tyler. Teachers are very supportive, and positive with all of students' needs and concerns.

Harvest ESL aims to serve, love, and care for our community through English Language instruction and friendly teacher-student relationships.

Juvenile Attention Center- Teens Meeting Christ

Teens Meeting Christ (TMC) is a group representing several churches who have been volunteering at the Smith County Juvenile Attention Center (JAC) for about 20 years.

They visit for an hour every other Sunday morning with the goal of giving hope to kids in trouble, by lifting up Jesus. During "Sunday Service," (as it's referred to), they share God from their hearts in music and Bible reading, stories, prayer, preaching, and personal testimonies.

It is an "UP" ministry to youth at a low point in their lives. It is important these youth know that God has a great plan for their lives and they are loved. So, as volunteer/ministers, they prepare themselves and seek the Lord for "words of
life" to give to them.

Speak to Louie Atencio for more information and a form for Smith County's approval.
